As part of the annual update to the 2005 Medicare Laboratory Fee Schedule, CMS has released new information concerning venipunctures. Considering the fact that a majority of laboratory procedures require a blood draw, providers should pay close attention to any changes to the rules and regulations concerning the performance and billing of venipunctures.
