CodeMap Compliance Briefing: 11/03/2006

Editor's Welcome:

This briefing provides an introduction to Logical Observation Identifier Names and Codes, otherwise known as LOINC. These codes, which essentially standardize all test names, will become important as Medicare moves toward a pay-for-performance based reimbursement system. This week we will define LOINC and how they are used, and show some examples of how the LOINC system is used to describe laboratory tests.  As always, please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions for future briefings.

Sincerely,

Gregory Root, Esq.
