Last week's CodeMap Compliance Briefing concerning payment jurisdiction for referred lab testing caused an unusually high number of email responses from our subscribers. A vast majority of these emails asked whether the same provisions concerning payment jurisdiction for reference laboratories applied to hospital laboratories. In addition, most responses included requests for citations to the Medicare manuals that govern these arrangements.
