CodeMap® Compliance Briefing: 5/30/2008
Editor's Welcome:
A number of our readers have alerted us that a Comprehensive Error Rate Testing (CERT) contractor had indicated that lab test claims without an original signed requisition slip are inadequate and can not be paid. This apparent contradiction to the statement contained in the 2002 final rule, "Negotiated Rulemaking: Coverage and Administrative Policies for Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory Services" prompted the American Clinical Laboratory Association (ACLA) to contact CMS in an effort to resolve this problem. Today's briefing summarizes CMS's response to the issues raised by ACLA.
We will continue our three-part series on Medicare Payment Systems next week.
Sincerely,
Gregory Root, Esq.
