Compliance Program Guidance for pharmaceutical manufacturers was issued last week as part of the OIG's continuing effort to minimize Medicare fraud and abuse. Although the OIG has not yet published specific Compliance Program Guidance for radiology services, existing guidance for other healthcare providers stresses that compliance programs are recommended for ALL entities who accept payment from government healthcare programs (Medicare,Medicaid, etc.). In other words, the absence of a guidance document for a specific area does not imply that a compliance program is not needed or beneficial.
