This week, contributing author Ms. Stacie Buck continues her discussion on how the Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) program may affect providers of radiology and imaging services. You will remember that the first installment of this discussion was included in the April 1, 2010 CodeMap® Radiology Briefing. Today's installment focuses on specific documentation issues that may be the focus of future RAC audits. Ms. Buck will conclude her discussion in a third and final installment in the near future concerning coding and documentation issues for interventional radiology services.
As a reminder, the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006 required Congress to implement a permanent national RAC program by January 1, 2010.
