CMS Transmittals

In Memoriam: Gregory B. Root

CodeMap® Compliance Briefing: 7/1/2010

Editor's Welcome:

Over the past several years, CMS has issued a number of "clarifications" regarding the requirement for a physician's signature on laboratory requisitions, and the difference between a test requisition and an order for diagnostic services.  Last week, CMS published their Proposed Rule for Payment Policies Under the 2011 Physician Fee Schedule, which includes the latest twist regarding signature requirements. Today, we will discuss the new proposed requirements as well what qualifies as an acceptable signature for Medicare purposes. As always, please send us your comments, suggestions, and /or questions via email.
