CMS has published the 2011 Medicare Laboratory Fee Schedule which includes payments for 10 new CPT codes, 5 new HCPCS codes, and 3 reconsidered codes. In general, CMS did not change its preliminary recommendations concerning the reimbursement for new and reconsidered lab test codes. Today, we will summarize the final payment amounts for new and reconsidered codes and other important changes to the Medicare Laboratory Fee Schedule. The 2011 payments include a 1.75% across-the-board reduction and will become effective January 1, 2011.
