Each year at about this time, the American Medical Association releases the following year's new CPT codes to CMS for inclusion in the July Medicare Laboratory Fee Schedule Stakeholders Meeting. CMS, in turn, posts the new CPT codes on their website along with codes from last year which are being reconsidered. This list of codes is used to create the agenda for the July meeting. This year, the meeting will also include discussion of how over 100 new molecular pathology codes are to be reimbursed. The July meeting will definitely be longer than usual, and should prove to be very interesting. This week's briefing will give our subscribers an overview of that meeting's agenda.
