Laboratory providers must obtain diagnosis information from ordering physicians and use that information in subsequent claims submissions for their services. Diagnosis information is an integral part of any claim to either federally funded or private payers. As with other important components of claims submissions, providers must be aware of the potential compliance issues that may arise if that information is not collected and communicated appropriately.
