Today's CodeMap® Compliance Briefing will discuss the coding rules for Multianalyte Assays with Algorithmic Analyses (MAAAs). MAAAs are a subcategory of the CPT, which the AMA created in 2013 to accommodate new, often proprietary, assays that use multiple tests and other parameters to produce a single useful clinical result. Since 2013, the AMA has added many new MAAA codes resulting in a total of 35 such codes listed in the 2018 CPT. As always, please let us know your comments, suggestions, and questions via email.
