CodeMap® Compliance Briefing: January 31, 2019

Editor's Welcome:

The procedure codes and associated rules for molecular pathology procedures, including those for inherited conditions, are constantly changing as new technology and clinical practices evolve. The 2019 CPT® and the American Medical Association's CPT® Assistant include a new Genetic Sequencing Procedure (GSP) code that significantly changes how testing for severe inherited conditions is reported. In today's CodeMap® Compliance Briefing we will discuss the applicable rules that govern the assignment of CPT codes for these procedures as well as the impact of this new code.  As always, please send us your questions, comments, and suggestions via email.
