The following briefing will discuss the many year-end changes that will occur over the coming weeks concerning federally funded health care programs. Providers must pay extra attention this time of year to ensure they continue to submit claims that comply with all the coding and billing rules of the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Providers that ignore or fail to acknowledge these changes will experience increased denial rates and possibly expose their organizations to significant administrative, civil, and/or criminal liability. Implementing the many coding and billing changes scheduled for 2006 is essential to keep your billing systems, LIS, and compliance programs up-to-date and effective.
