CodeMap® Compliance Briefing: 4/11/2008
Editor's Welcome:
Periodically, we devote a CodeMap Compliance Briefing to answering questions and concerns submitted by our subscribers. This week's briefing will address three developments that have caused numerous subscribers to contact us and ask for clarification; one, the Medicare coding and coverage rules concerning MRSA testing; two, changes in how Medicare pays for basic metabolic panels; and three, Medicare reimbursement for glycated hemoglobin testing. All three issues have generated an unusually large number of inquiries, and we hope this week's briefing will help clear up some of the resultant confusion. As always, please feel free to email any questions, concerns, or suggestions for topics of future briefings.
Sincerely,
Gregory Root, Esq.
