Medicare created the National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) (also known as CCI) to promote national correct coding methodologies and to control improper coding leading to inappropriate Medicare reimbursement payment. Providers are responsible for not only complying with NCCI code pair edits, but also the associated guidance included in the NCCI Policy Manual.
