CodeMap® 04/30/2020: New Codes for COVID-19 Specimen Collection

Editor's Welcome:  CMS continues to add new codes to the Medicare Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Just last week, CMS established two new level II HCPCS codes, along with reimbursement amounts, to identify specimen collection for COVID-19 testing. As we will discuss in today's CodeMap® Compliance Briefing, these codes only apply to specimens collected from homebound and nursing home patients. Also, please remember that we have expanded our May CodeMap® Webinar to include coding and Medicare reimbursement information about all the new codes created to report COVID-19 clinical lab testing and related services.
