Coding Capillary Electrophoresis Procedures
In 2004, the American Medical Association denied a request for a separate method code for capillary electrophoresis wherein they stated that capillary electrophoresis can be reported using existing code:

The above code may be used to report the determination of analytes determined by capillary electrophoresis for which a more specific code does not exist.
Pathologist interpretation of capillary electrophoresis procedures may be reported using 80500 or 80502 as appropriate. (See Physician interpretation of Electrophoresis Assays)
