CodeMap® Compliance Briefing: November 30, 2012

Editor's Welcome: Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) typing is primarily used to assess the compatibility of organ and stem cell donors and recipients. The 2012 CPT included 14 new HLA CPT codes describing DNA based methods, and the 2013 CPT includes an additional 9 new codes describing solid phase assays utilizing flow cytometry, microspheres and ELISA methods.  Today's CodeMap® Compliance Briefing will review the organization of these codes, as well as the 8 previously existing codes in the CPT. In addition, we will discuss how to choose the correct code for any given method. As always, send your comments, questions, and/or suggestions via email.

Sincerely,
