This week, we will be taking a look at the rapidly approaching PAMA reductions to the 2024 Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule (CLFS). Payment amounts on the CLFS have remained essentially unchanged since 2020. However, absent further congressional action, scheduled cuts up to 15% will become effective January 1. The Saving Access to Laboratory Services Act (SALSA) is a bipartisan bill that has been introduced in Congress that would improve and simplify the statistical sampling, establish a 5% guardrail to limit further reductions per year, and change the frequency of the data collection periods.
