Physician Fee Schedule
On March 9, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024 increased the conversion factor used to calculate payments on the Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) from 32.7442 to 33.2875. CMS determines Medicare PFS amounts using Relative Value Units (RVUs) for the work, practice expense, and malpractice components of each procedure, along with Geographic Practice Cost Indices (also known as GPCIs, these reflect local economic factors, multiplied by the conversion factor).
