Editor's Welcome: Today's CodeMap® Compliance Briefing continues our discussion of the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 (PAMA). Previously, our discussion focused on the far-reaching provisions of this new legislation and how they will eventually result in a Medicare reimbursement system that is closely tied to market rates. Today, we will explore the applicable provisions of PAMA that detail how Medicare will pay for new tests that are added to the Medicare Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule including, “Advanced Diagnostic Tests.” As will be explained below, PAMA will also require the addition of many new HCPCS codes to identify these and other tests and procedures.
